In 1954, Lyndon Lyon built his first greenhouse in Dolgeville.  He developed the first Double Pink Violets ever grown.

Over the past sixty-plus years, his African violets have become known and admired throughout the world.  The beautiful violets are shipped to countries all over the globe, and have even been featured on the Martha Stewart Show.  This weekend (June 10th through 12th), thousands of visitors will flock to the small Herkimer Country village to celebrate the violets as well as the rich history of Dolgeville.
