The Weirdest Signs in Central New York
Okay, maybe they're not so weird to you, but Naomi Lynn has never seen signs like this and had to have someone explain them to her.
You've probably noticed these signs before on buildings - Maybe you see them all the time and never gave them a second thought. But for some, this isn't a normal sign. We're talking about the "Fallout Shelter" signs.
Naomi Lynn had never seen a sign like this on a building. She first saw it on the Municipal Building in Ilion and had to ask her coworkers about it. Was it actually a big deal? Were there times in our history that the idea of a nuclear bomb hitting the area wasn't so far-fetched?
Apparently, it wasn't.
JR from your More Music Morning Show even explained to Naomi that the 'drills' for a nuclear bomb were a real thing. You've probably seen it in pictures (or you remember doing it yourself) - crouching under your school desk, or standing in the hallway with your face against the wall, using your hands to protect your head and neck.
It's pretty crazy to think that so many of us are scared of the way things are going in the world today, but not that long ago there was an even bigger fear - The fear of a nuclear bomb being dropped in our city.
Maybe the world isn't as scary now as we sometimes feel it is...
