Online shopping continues to grow and thanks to Amazon, local charities can now benefit with just a few extra clicks.

According to a recent report from the US Census Bureau the majority of all shopping done at retailers in the US is now online and has grown by 13.8% in 2015. As the majority of shopping is is now online many retailers have adjusted their plans to include the ever shifting trends.

Amazon, recently making headlines for its attempt in to Drone Deliveries, has created a way to help local charities with just a few clicks. Many people already have accounts with Amazon and through the AmazonSmile program it is as simple as logging in with your Amazon account and selecting the local charity you want to support.

Amazon explains:

AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon that lets customers enjoy the same wide selection of products, low prices, and convenient shopping features as on Amazon.com. The difference is that when customers shop on AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com), the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to the charitable organizations selected by customers.

There is no change in the price of any of the products or any additional fees. All that is needed to give to charity any time is make a purchase through smile.amazon.com instead of the usual amazon.com.

There are more than 300 charities and 501(c)(3) organizations listed for Utica in the AmazonSmile registry that people can choose to have their purchases donate to in the Utica area.
