What’s So Special About Le Mars, Iowa? It’s The Ice Cream Capital Of The World
Think of Iowa and what comes to mind? Corn, farm country, the Iowa Caucus. Know what’s so special about Le Mars Iowa? It’s the ice cream capital of the world.
A I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. Up until recently, I had no clue where the ice cream capital of the world was. That is until I was enjoying some Blue Bunny ice cream and noticed on the box that Le Mars, Iowa is the ice cream capital of the world.
According to BlueBunny.com, more ice cream is made in Le Mars Iowa by a single company than any other place in the world. Hmmm, maybe I need to move there. Only kidding. A visit and tour might be on my travel agenda someday, though.
Just how much ice cream is Blue Bunny dishing out Le Mars?
Blue Bunny makes over 100 million gallons of ice cream each year. That amounts to a staggering 250,000 gallons a day. Wow.
Every year they buy enough strawberries to fill over one million strawberry pies.
There are 70 Blue Bunny flavors, and the most popular flavor is vanilla. Chocolate and Bunny Tracks are their other most popular flavors.
They have one of the largest and coldest freezers on the planet.
I like their Mini Swirls Birthday Cake ice cream cones. Perfect size for kids and great for adults who want ice cream but don’t want a large cone. Time to have one now! Is vanilla your favorite ice cream flavor?
