Might want to check your pockets or that jar of change on your shelf - your loose change could be worth hundreds or thousands of dollars.

There's a 1970 US quarter on Ebay with a "Buy it Now" price of $35,000. Good news, the shipping is free. What could possibly make this coin worth that much? Turns out it was an error, a barely noticeable error. Seller and coin expert Mike Byers explains it very simply:

This unique 1970-S Proof Quarter from the United States was over struck on a 1941 Quarter from Canada. (Mike Byers - Ebay)

This is an "error" that happens from time to time, but this particular example shows considerable detail from that old Canadian coin.

Can you see it? You can notice the faint outline of the foreign leader's head right under Washington's head. And there's a faint hint of the original coin's 1941 date over the word "DOLLAR".

Whether you can see it or not, you have to admit this is a unique error. Is it worth $35,000 though? I don't know, but it may be worth it to you to do a quick check of your loose change. The PCGS Coin Price Guide lets you search all kinds of rare coins to see if you've got some hidden treasure in your pocket.
