In our opinion, New York should be ranked at least in the top 3 "Most Miserable "winter states, but to our surprise, it doesn't even come close.

A couple from the Midwest did some geographical research, and according to Thrillist, here are the categories that they figured in:

an intense period of research and debate, factoring in everything from weather patterns, average temperatures, and how effective and quickly their department of transportation clears highways, to interviews with locals and the historical success rates of their winter-season sports teams.

Maine, North Dakota, Alaska, Michigan, and Minnesota round out the top 5 "Most Miserable" winter states. Hawaii, Arizona, California, Florida, and Colorado are the least "Miserable" states during the winter months.  No need to re-read what you just saw, yes COLORADO made the least miserable list; perhaps because the skiing is awesome, and the scenery is breathtaking. And how in the world did New York place 20th?!
