Taylor Swift won't reveal who her new smash single, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" was written about, but she will say that the idea for the song came from a friend of the ex with whom she had a chat with right before a scheduled writing session.

Taylor says;

"The song 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' was actually inspired really spontaneously in the studio. I was working with Max Martin and Johan Shellback, who are amazing, and we were in the middle of writing a different song and a friend of my ex-boyfriend's walked into the studio and started chatting me up about how he had heard that we were going to get back together. And I said at the end of it, 'We are never ever getting back together . . . like ever . . . EVER!' And immediately both of us just kind of looked at the guitar and I picked it up and started strumming and we wrote this song in about 25 minutes."
