Why is YouTube Down?

There are reports that YouTube is currently experiencing problems and may be down for many users.

The outages were first reported to the internet monitoring service DownDetector at 5:22 Eastern time in the United States.

Many users are seeing the following message:

 500 Internal Server Error

 

 

The tech website Mashable reports that YouTube was having issues serving videos to some users as early at Monday morning on 11/18.
