Will We Have a White Christmas in 2012?

NWS Snow Cover Northeast
NWS/NOAA

It seems more often than not the last few years, white Christmas has been nothing more than a song.  Will the Utica area see snow this holiday?

According to the National Weather Service, the next week will bring some rain showers and temperatures in the lower 40s.

The weekend before Christmas, however, there are chances of snow both Saturday and Sunday with high temperatures below freezing.  The temperature should stay below 32 through Christmas Day. So, yes there is a chance.

The map above is the current (as of Monday 12/17) snow cover in the Northeast.
