Get out your snowblowers and shovels, Central New York, and get ready to do battle again the second full weekend of 2018.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Friday evening into Saturday. In their official words, from the Weather.gov website (where you can get targeted info by putting your zip code in the window on the left side of the page):

WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY EVENING THROUGH
SATURDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation possible. Plan on difficult
travel conditions. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches,
with localized amounts up to 9 inches, and ice accumulations
of one tenth to two tenths of an inch are possible.

* WHERE...Northern Oneida, Madison and Southern Oneida Counties.

Syracuse and the surrounding area could be impacted as well:

Heavy mixed precipitation possible. Plan on difficult
travel conditions. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches,
with localized amounts up to 10 inches, and ice accumulations
of around two tenths are possible.

* WHERE...Yates, Seneca, Southern Cayuga, Onondaga, Steuben and
Schuyler Counties.

* WHEN...From Friday evening through Saturday evening.

There is potential for significant snow, sleet or ice. Travel could be adversely impacted in towns and cities like Utica, Rome, Hamilton, Boonville and Oneida.
