Outside of a location in Binghamton, Sonic is a restaurant chain without a footprint in Upstate New York, but that is changing in a big way. Plans are set to open Sonic locations in Albany, Syracuse and the world's largest Sonic is coming to Upstate New York.

The largest restaurant the Sonic chain has ever built is coming to the Buffalo suburb of Cheektowaga on Union Road. WIVB-TV reports the restaurant will feature

seating for up to 100 people and have at least 20 drive-up bays.

“We are very excited about landing Sonic, and the buzz it is creating,” an official from Acquest Development said.

Indoor seating is a rarity in the Sonic chain that specializes in carhops who run orders out to customers at drive-up stalls. It's not too difficult to understand why that wouldn't work out so well in a snow-socked Buffalo winter.
