We recently covered a lot of cool summer camp ideas, but this next idea that may be coming to fruition in the summer of 2019 is really interesting.

The Chateaugay Correctional Facility, located in Northern New York's Franklin County, just a stone's throw from the Canadian border, was sold recently for $600,000. According to New York State officials, the Montreal company making the purchase intends to use the area as a summer camp for Jewish children.

The 30 or so buildings are all less than 30 years old and are surrounded by 99 acres. Chateaugay was one of many state prisons closed in recent months--all due to the state's declining inmate population.

Would you send your child to a summer camp that was once a prison?
