The "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" military policy has been in the news for weeks as debate has raged in the U.S. Congress. How do U.S. citizens operate under a “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy everyday?

According to TheSmokingJacket.com, we all operate under a "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy in many different everyday life situations. Most of them are in a negative spin of course because if it was positive we all wouldn’t have trouble talking about it. Think of the following three situations you’d never talk about at the dinner table with family.

  • Shady eBay Deals- A lot of deals are too good to be true on eBay, but we don't dig any deeper, do we? Last year around this time I fell victim to one of these shady deals with a laptop battery, but luckily eBay paid me back in full!
  • Mysterious Fast Food Products- Do you really want to know what's inside the meat at these places? It’s like asking what’s in a Hot Dog, no thanks!
  • Hair Plugs- Everybody has that balding friend who just shows up one day with a full head of hair. He doesn't say anything about it, so we don't ask him about it. I’ve worked with a few people where one day they have a whole head and the next day a hat.

What are some other topics Americans have a “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy on?
