Festivus Celebration Coming To Utica Fire Department
Festivus started as a "parody holiday" on an episode of Seinfeld. Then became a symbol of support for the "over commercialization" of Christmas. Now it comes to the Utica Fire Department in the midst of their Happy Birthday Jesus sign flap.
Kevin Nugent is the man behind a widely circulated press release announcing the celebration at 3 this afternoon.
“Utica is a diverse city with many different beliefs and religions,” said Kevin Nugent. “We want to ensure that all faiths are represented on government property, as well as share our faith with the city of Utica.” Participants sought to ensure that the government is not endorsing a single religion, but is open and representative of all faiths, as well as non-believers.
The celebration will feature the usual Festivus traditions, the “airing of grievances” and “feats of strength,” and a Festivus Pole constructed of Utica Club beer cans.
