It's another "Firefighter Friday!" This week we sat down with Brad Tyson, a volunteer firefighter that will be celebrating 29 years with the Remsen Department this June.

29 years serving the community, 29 years saving and protecting others, 29 years of putting his life on the line... Brad Tyson definitely deserved to be nominated (and featured) on "Firefighter Friday." He stopped by the studio to have a chat with Naomi Lynn from your More Music Morning Show.

She asked him about what made him want to get into firefighting, and like most firefighters we've talked to so far, a family member is (or was) also a firefighter. For Brad it was his dad. And watching his dad come and go from work, and hearing his stories... Well, that made him start wanting to live that life. Brad became a firefighter when he was 18-years-old.

Brad mentions that his favorite part about being a firefighter is being able to help the community. He also shares the story of how they had to rescue a man from Hinckley Dam at night. You can hear the story in the video at the top of this page (besides, it's better coming from Brad's mouth than just reading about it).

In the video Brad also mentions a little bit of his personal life, like what he does when he's not working and they talked about his 5-year-old son who Brad has a feeling, will be following in his footsteps as a firefighter. Apparently, his son tries to follow him when Brad has to go to work and he likes to sit on the porch and watch the fire trucks go by.

Brad went over a typical day at the station, which includes drills. So even if there isn't an emergency, firefighters are still training all the time to keep themselves sharp and ready for anything.

And just for fun, Naomi Lynn decided to end the video with a question way out of left field. She asked Brad, if he could only listen to two musical artists or bands for the rest of his life, what two would it be? Have to keep these firefighters on their toes, right??

Brad was nominated by his wife Lisa, to be a featured firefighter during Firefighter Fridays. And she had a lot of wonderful things to say about her husband. These are just a few words from her nomination...

Brad spends a lot of his dedicated time running calls and some calls he runs all alone. He is on call whether it's morning, noon, or night. He has left his family in the middle of dinner and holiday functions to go on calls. He takes great pride in the fire department...

Brad's wife also included a photo of Brad with his son during a field trip to the fire house:

We want to thank Lisa for nominating Brad, and we want to thank Brad for all that he does in the community and all he does as a firefighter. We're proud to recognize him as this week's featured firefighter on "Firefighter Friday."

If you or someone you know is a firefighter that you think deserves some recognition for the job they do, you can nominate them to be our next featured firefighter on "Firefighter Friday."
