‘Looking Glass’ Trailer: A Two-Way Mirror in a Motel Is a Recipe for Murder
Look, when I see the phrase “psycho-sexual thriller” and “Nicolas Cage” in the same sentence, that sentence and every sentence following it is going to have my attention. The trailer for Cage’s new film (one of several, actually) Looking Glass poses the question, what would happen if Nic Cage bought a motel in which one of the rooms was outfitted with a secret two-way mirror?
Ray (Cage) and his wife are looking to start over, so they ... buy a motel? Out in the desert? And sell the rooms to sexy strangers who pet heavily in the two-way mirror room while Ray watches and then maybe murder each other. This trailer itself is intriguing, not just because of the murder mystery aspect but also because Cage doesn’t dial it up to 11 immediately. It’s a nicely subdued performance, more of a 1408 than a Vampire’s Kiss.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Looking Glass is a psycho-sexual thriller following a couple that buys an old motel in the desert looking for a new beginning, but what seemed at first as an escape is soon a thrilling ride through a mysterious world when Ray (Nicolas Cage) discovers a two-way mirror and witnesses a horrifying murder. In a twisted game of cat and mouse, Ray must race to save his wife and himself from a gruesome secret connected to the hotel and the strange people who visit there.
Looking Glass opens in select theaters and on VOD and Digital HD on February 16, 2018.
