Judges recently zipped through 43 nominations for the first ever Bagg's Square Awards. Winners will be announced next Tuesday at their annual meeting and will be posted on Facebook right after they're announced!

We've heard much talk about the development of Utica's Bagg's Square area. From new and growing business to loft apartments and more.

A long-closed restaurant in Utica has reopened.  Gerber's 1933 Tavern opened in the historic eatery at the corner of Liberty Street and Hotel Street.

It's been a dream of some city planners and developers:  Bring residental housing units back to downtown Utica.  And there has been advancement in the last few years with a renewed vigor of activity that could bring lofts and condos to Baggs Square near Union Station.  It's working in one upstate New York city - Binghamton is seeing a downtown residential renaissance.

I consider it one of my favorite neighborhoods in Utica, the historic Bagg's Square.  Just north of downtown and straddling either side of Genesee Street, Bagg's Square holds a great deal of the city's past, and perhaps, much of its future as well...
