Washington, DC may have the nation's most famous cherry trees, but they'd be hard pressed to rival the beauty of the cherry blossoms that bloom annually in Syracuse.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the planting of the cherry blossoms that bloom each spring around the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C. Orginally a gift from the mayor of Tokyo, Japan, the blossoms have come to represent the friendship between the United States and Japan.
