Have you ever wondered about how safe roundabouts really are? The New York State Department of Transportation has released some new information on the safety of them.

It's that time of year when people who love roundabouts more than most New Yorkers do celebrate what they call the "unsung heroes of the road."

There's a lot of complaining right now about the new construction project at the intersection of John and Oriskany in Utica where a proposed roundabout is scheduled to begin construction in 2018.  Currently, there are two very successful roundabouts in the area: Utica's Oneida Square and Griffiss Park in Rome...

One of the most talked-about changes in Utica this year has been the roundabout installed on Genesee Street at Oneida Square. For some reason roundabouts are always met with suspicion or outright outrage.  Such is the case in the southern New York town of Horseheads near Elmira.

The city of Utica earlier this week held an informational meeting about the plans to build a roundabout at Oneida Square.  Count me in as a supporter.
