With this being back-to-school week in central New York, we all have to be more careful with our driving. There will be a lot more pedestrian traffic with kids waiting for school buses and crossing streets and intersections to and from school. Here's a review of school bus safety.

Kids love school buses. There are countless books and toys for kids featuring school buses. Stealing a school bus? Now that's a different story. Apparently a 12 year old in Florida managed to steal a school bus not once but twice.

This is a situation that will never happen to me as I'm am waiting every afternoon between 3:10 & 3:20 at my son Dylan's school bus drop off point.  This is the policy of General Herkimer Elementary. Parents of kindergarten students are required to be at the bus stop and I am in favor of this policy. Perhaps this should also be policy in Grand Rapids Michigan.

Earlier this year the nation's collective heart went out to a school bus aide Karen Klien who lives near Rochester and was ridiculed by students on her bus.  This time around it's an adult who is under scrutiny after video was released showing a student being slammed against the side of the bus.
