At some point, we’re not sure when, Sesame Street stopped being a low-key educational children’s program and started being an educational children’s program that finds time to create internet-friendly parodies of whatever pop culture event is huge in a given week. So yeah, of course the show has made an Avengers-themed sketch and of course it’s called The Aveggies: Age of Bon Bon and of course it recasts Cookie Monster as the Hulk.

Sesame Street's audience might be a little young for the Game of Thrones demographic, but that didn't stop them from spoofing the HBO show in a segment titled "Game of Chairs."

It looks like Macklemore has teamed up with Sesame Street to create a kid-friendly and muppet-infused video for his song 'Thrift Shop.'

We've seen 'Sesame Street' take on the likes of such TV-MA fare as 'Sons of Anarchy,' 'Boardwalk Empire' and 'Homeland,' but can it master deductions when it comes to 'Sherlock'? Today is not a sunny day on Sesame Street. Kevin Clash, the voice actor and puppeteer behind Elmo, the show's most popular character, has taken an indefinite leave of absence following allegations the he had sexual relations with an underage boy.

Americans found out on Wednesday what Mitt Romney has planned if he becomes president: He will cut funding for PBS, effectively firing Big Bird. Romney still claims to "love Big Bird," he just says the country can't afford to pay for the channel. In this economy, our large, yellow feathered friend better start looking for a new job now just in case Romney follows through with his threat.

The Sesame Street crew has scored viral video hits in the past by tying into pop culture icons like Katy Perry and the TV show Glee.  Now they've got another sure fire viral hit with this Cookie Monster spoof of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe."
