Snow it begins. The first widespread accumulating snow of the season is coming to Central New York. And it'll be just in time for a sloppy and slippery mid-week commute.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning Sunday night and Monday for snow and mixed precipitation in Oneida, Madison and parts of Otsego Counties. A Winter Weather Advisory is posted for Herkimer County.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Northern Oneida County. Lake effect snow is expected to develop tonight and continue through Friday. Generally, 2-4 inches of snow is expected through Friday.
All of the area is under a High Wind Warning and the rest is either under a Blizzard Warning or a Winter Weather Warning. Gusts up to 60 mph could cause downed trees and branches, leading to power outages.
