New Hartford Police responded to the scene of a one-car pedestrian accident that resulted in the death of an 8-year-old boy.

UPDATED 3:20 p.m.- New Hartford Police have released the name of the eight-year old boy who was killed in an accident in the Sangertown Square Mall parking lot on Sunday.

Police say Logan Lints of Rome was hit by a truck that was backing out of a parking space.  Lints suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

No tickets have been issued to the driver of the truck.

The investigation into the accident is continuing.

Police responded to the scene at around 2 p.m. on Sunday when it was reported a young boy was hit by a truck that was attempting to back out of a parking spot. Immediately following the accident the child was transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

New Hartford Police were on the scene until just before 6 p.m. on Sunday evening collecting evidence with the assistance of the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

At this time the identity of the boy killed and the driver of the vehicle are not being released. Police anticipate the release of more information on Monday as they learn more.
