The United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area is saying "thank you for lending a helping hand."

The United Way held its annual Day of Thanks on Tuesday (Feb. 28).

Officials made personal visits to companies and organizations that were involved in the 2016 Workplace Campaigns.

"Our hearts are full of thanks every day, as we see countless stories of people investing in our community through United Way" said Executive Director Brenda Episcopo.  "This day is of thanks is dedicated to those individuals, companies and community groups that Live United."

During a visit to the FX Matt Brewery, a check for $41,600 was presented to the United Way, representing funds raised during the 2016 Saranac Thursdays and concert series events.

One in four people in the Valley and Greater Utica area requests help from a United Way funded program every year.
