The United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area has done a lot for Central New York - from their community baby shower to this - Painting Utica Beautiful! This event is just another way organizations are helping our town become bigger and better!

Utica Mural Covering Up Graffiti

One the longest days of the year - United Way organizations all around the country will be working on community service projects. The United Way already does this on many different days (and through different events all year long), but this is the United Way 'Day of Action!'

For the past few years the United Way has used this day as a 'Graffiti Buster' - to help get rid of graffiti throughout the city. Last year they started painting murals in the city (to cover up some of the graffiti). This year, they're doing the same thing - except for Bigger and Better! (and with help from you!)

According to the United Way,

In 2015, for the 4th Annual United Way Day of Action, we’ll make Utica Beautiful, by painting murals in the City of Utica Parks. Dugouts, field houses & pool houses will be designed with love by local illustrator, Caitlyn Knepka, and hand painted by you, our volunteers!

Now, you don't have to be an artist to be a part of this event. It's just a fun way to get out, and help your community at the same time! The painting fun is Thursday, June 18, 2015. You do have to register before hand - actually, you have to be registered by June 9th.

You can register for this event, and get more details by checking out the United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area Facebook Page, or online here. This is a great event for our community, and for the residents in the area. I've signed up! And I hope to see you out there as well! :)
