International House of Pancakes is celebrating its 57th anniversary tomorrow and they want customers to celebrate with them! The last time I visited IHOP I had a pancake feast. Typically pancakes aren't something I go out of my way to eat, but there was a reason for my over indulgence: I lost a bet. My friend Katie and I made a friendly wager.

A couple of months ago, we staged a cooking contest. The premise of the competition was to see who could come up with the most unique pancake creations. I lost by a long shot. When it came to serve up our delectable johnnycakes, I presented her with four different varieties: chocolate chip, banana, strawberry, and peanut butter chip. She showed me up by delivering seven different creations: lemon poppy seed, blueberry, pumpkin, chunky monkey, oatmeal, cinnamon, and maple bacon.

Since I lost the contest I had to visit IHOP and eat as many pancakes as possible in 30 minutes. My accomplishment wasn't all that impressive because my stomach was not used to ingesting a multitude of pancakes. I was only able to polish off 16 over the course of half an hour. That being said, if you're interested in enjoying a pancake gala, tomorrow's your chance at IHOP. According to WKTV:

Each guest can get one short stack of buttermilk pancakes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the celebratory price of 57 cents – which is three cents fewer than they cost when the first International House of Pancakes opened in California in 1958.
