Back in October, Netflix announced that they had signed Adam Sandler to star in four original movies that would premiere exclusively on their streaming service. Today, we have news on Sandler’s first project under this partnership; a western-comedy titled ‘Ridiculous 6’ that stars such familiar Sandler faces as Rob Schneider, Nick Swardson, Steve Buscemi, Jon Lovitz and Vanilla Ice as Mark Twain.

Whoopidy doo!

‘Ridiculous 6’ is described as a comedic take on ‘The Magnificent Seven’, the Yul Brenner/Steve McQueen movie that follows a group of gunfighters recruited to protect a Mexican town. In addition to the cast listed above, The Wrap reports the film also stars Taylor Lautner, Nick Nolte, Blake Shelton, Whitney Cummings, Dan Aykroyd, Will Forte, Terry Crews, Luke Wilson, Steve Zahn, Danny Trejo and Chris Parnell.

Sandler will play an orphan living among a Native American tribe with Lautner, Schneider, Wilson and Crews and his brothers. (Interesting if for no other reason than Rob Schneider was unceremoniously dumped from ‘Grown Ups 2’ and has now weaseled his way back into Sandler’s world.) Also, if Vanilla Ice as Mark Twain didn’t sufficiently blow your mind, Shelton will be playing Wyatt Earp.

If this all sounds painfully familiar, it should (and not just because it sounds like every other Adam Sandler movie). After Sony Pictures passed on the film, Paramount committed to filming in April of 2013. Sandler eventually got distracted making ‘Blended’ and that version never came together, so Netflix gets sloppy seconds.

Filming on ‘Ridiculous 6’ is set to begin in February from a script Sandler wrote with partner Tim Herlihy.
