‘Avengers 2’ Star Robert Downey Jr. Teases ‘Civil War’ Clues
Ever since the announcement of Captain America: Civil War, we’ve been curious about how the Russo brothers will begin to adapt Marvel’s Civil War comic book story line for the big screen, kicking off a major new arc in the MCU (and one that sees Spider-Man swinging in with a crossover). According to Robert Downey Jr., the seeds for Civil War have already been planted in Avengers: Age of Ultron, once again proving just how much planning and foresight goes into the creation of the MCU.
‘Spider-Man’ Seeks Younger Actor to Replace Andrew Garfield, Plus More Info on Marvel and Sony’s Plan
It was the news we’d all be hoping and wishing and waiting for: last night, Marvel officially announced that they’ve reached an agreement with Sony for a Spider-Man crossover, which could also allow for MCU characters to crossover into Spidey’s own films. On top of that, Marvel is teaming up with Sony for a new ‘Spider-Man’ movie, to hit theaters in 2017. But who will play the web-slinger? As predicted, it won’t be Andrew Garfield. We’ve got a little more info on Marvel and Sony’s plans, which shed even more optimistic light on this very positive (and super exciting!) news.
‘Trainwreck’ Trailer: All Aboard the Amy Schumer Train
It’s here! The first trailer for Judd Apatow’s ‘Trainwreck,’ written by and starring the consistently delightful Amy Schumer! The film also marks something of a departure for Apatow, whose films have been mostly male-oriented. This time around, Schumer takes the spotlight as a successful, independent woman whose love life is a mess thanks to her deeply-ingrained aversion to monogamy. If we didn’t know any better, this could easily be a Paul Feig film—and that’s a compliment.
‘Star Wars: Episode 8’ and ‘Episode 9’ Release Plan Confirmed by Disney
The only official release plans for ‘Star Wars’ so far include ‘The Force Awakens’ on December 18, and the first spinoff/standalone film, which will hit theaters on December 16, 2016. As for the rest of the new ‘Star Wars’ films: it’s been reported for a while that Disney plans on releasing a new film each year for the next several years, but the studio hasn’t made anything publicly official…until now.
‘Avengers 2’ Reveals Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver’s Motives, Hulks Out With New Photos
We’ve been hearing bits and pieces about various elements of ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ from the origins of Ultron and Vision to who Andy Serkis might be playing in the film. But we haven’t heard a whole lot about what’s up with Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, the super-powered twins teased at the end of ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier.’ What we do know is that they’re going up against the Avengers. What we haven’t known is why…until now. Plus, Marvel has released a bunch of photos from the upcoming sequel, in case you felt like Hulking-out.
Steve Buscemi Joins ‘The Brady Bunch’ in Snickers Super Bowl Ad
Snickers has really outdone themselves in the WTF department with their ad for this Sunday’s Super Bowl. In their latest commercial featuring the “you’re not yourself when you’re hungry” concept, Danny Trejo takes on the role of Marcia Brady, while Steve Buscemi plays the role of Jan, which is rather timely, given the currently popular ‘Brady Bunch’ meme that’s been taking over Tumblr.
‘Doctor Strange’ Eyes Oscar Nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor for Mystery Role
Ever since Marvel formally announced the casting of Benedict Cumberbatch as Sorcerer Supreme in their upcoming ‘Doctor Strange’ film, we haven’t heard much else about the project. Set to be directed by Scott Derrickson, the film is currently scheduled for a 2016 release date, so it’s about time that we started hearing a little more about who else will be joining Cumberbatch as the project heads closer to production—like Chiwetel Ejiofor, who is reportedly in talks for a role.
‘Star Wars’ Standalone Film Eyeing Rooney Mara and Tatiana Maslany for Leading Role
The first ‘Star Wars’ standalone film is set to hit theaters in 2016, and although it’s currently seeking a replacement screenwriter, it looks as though production is gearing up on the Gareth Edwards project. Both Rooney Mara and ‘Orphan Black’ star Tatiana Maslany are testing for a leading role in the untitled film, which has been rumored as a heist film involving Boba Fett.
‘Suicide Squad’ Fails to Land Jake Gyllenhaal to Replace Tom Hardy
It looks like ‘Suicide Squad’ is still searching for its Rick Flagg. Following Tom Hardy’s departure from Warner Bros. upcoming DC super villain project, Jake Gyllenhaal was being eyed to take over. But the actor has basically said “Nah, bro, I’m good” and passed on the film as well. With David Ayer’s film hitting the big screen in 2016, WB still has a little time to cast the central role.

That ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Post-Credits Scene is Getting a Comic Book Sequel From Marvel
The post-credits scene for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ featured a rather unexpected comic book character, which inspired fan speculation over whether or not this particular character would make another appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While we won’t see him on the big screen again anytime soon, he is getting his very own comic book sequel to help explain how he ended up in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’
