Beyonce’s Grammy Dress Was a Size 2 or 4, Found on Instagram [PHOTOS]
Beyonce‘s white lace dress, which hugged her curves and showed off hints of skin, was the talk of the 2014 Grammys.
The gown, designed by ‘Project Runway’ alumnus Michael Costello, was a mannequin sample and either a size 2 or a size 4, proving how tiny Bey really is. Even more, it was found by her stylist on Instagram of all places.
It was a high pressure sitch for the designer, who told E!, “We didn’t have any of her sizes or measurements. The dress was just made to fit a sample mannequin. It’s smaller than a size 4. She is tiny! That dress is at least a 2/4. She looks amazing. I just love the way it all came together. Ty [Bey's stylist] knew it was going to fit.”
Bey is on the taller side at 5’7″ and she is known for those knock ‘em dead curves. We would never have expected Bey to be such a tiny size. Not like it matters, though, since she is gorgeous regardless. But she is a patron saint for gals with curves and hourglass figures.
Costello was stressed because dressing Beyonce is a MONSTROUS deal for a young designer. She can have her pick of any designer there is, from Chanel to Tom Ford to Balenciaga to Elie Saab on down. But he answered the challenge because it’s Bey! You don’t handle the Queen with anything but ultimate care.
“At first I was a little concerned with the pieces I gave,” he confessed. “Maybe it needs to be smaller or bigger? When you send something to Beyoncé, you’re just a little concerned, but Ty knew. Ty knew the fit.”
In order to have it ready for Bey and the Grammys, Costello and his team had to put in an extra day of work to finish the neck, back, hem and to do other assorted sewing. The dress was inspired by New York City, specifically a Winter Wonderland, like snow falling onto the fabric.
Just in case, Costello left nothing to chance and created extra items for Bey. “I made four other pieces that night for Beyonce, so that Ty had good options,” he said.
Bey’s stylist Ty found the dress via the wonders of social media! Costello had followed Ty on Instagram and fate dictated the rest. “Michael ended up being an Instagram follower of mine, I followed him back, and his designs were beautiful,” Ty admitted.
