It's certainly not uncommon to see roadkill while driving, but those on the Berkshire section of the New York State Thruway saw the sad site recently of a black bear dead along the side of the road.

A commenter on the /r/UpstateNewYork board on reddit recently reported the black bear along the section of the Thruway south of Albany and the Massachusetts border:

This is kind of a downer, but I thought I'd share because it's so unusual. I've been traversing the Thruway for decades and have seen dead deer, waterfowl, skunks, cats, etc. Today, though, was a first - a dead black bear along the side of the road. Not too far from the Mass border traveling west. Obviously there are bears in NYS, just never haven't seen one on the side of the Thruway.

Being so close to the Adirondack Park, I wonder, have you ever seen a bear along the side of the road?
