Admittedly, we weren't certain what to make of 'Boy Meets World''s sequel-spinoff series of sorts, 'Girl Meets World,' shifting the focus to Cory and Topanga's kids (with a heaping helping of nostalgia along the way), but the new Matthews clan is upon us. Check out a first look at the Disney Channel's 'Girl Meets World' with the first trailer.

Courtesy of E! Online, the first 'Girl Meets World' trailer sees Cory and Topanga's young daughter, Riley (Rowan Blanchard), and her Shawn Hunter-esque best friend, Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), attempting to sneak out of the Manhattan Matthews residence (sheesh, remember the days of suburban Philly?), before being caught by Cory. Cory gives a nice meta-push for Riley to make life into her own 'World,' while Topanga backs her husband.

Scheduled to premiere this summer with 21 episodes, here’s how The Disney Channel describes ‘Girl Meets World’:

Set in New York City, the new comedy series will tell the wonderfully funny, heartfelt stories that Boy Meets World is renowned for — only this time from a tween girl’s perspective — as the curious and bright 7th grader Riley and her quick-witted friend Maya (played by Sabrina Carpenter) embark on an unforgettable middle school experience.  But their plans for a carefree year will be adjusted slightly under the watchful eyes of Riley’s dad who’s also a faculty member — and their new History teacher — and Riley’s mom who owns a trendy afterschool hangout that specializes in pudding.

Don't worry about 'Girl Meets World' lacking for 'Boy Meets World' throwbacks either, as William Daniels (Feenay!) will also return for the pilot, while subsequent episodes will see Lee Norris reprising the role of Minkus, and near of the entire original cast coming together for the holidays. Sadly, Rider Strong won't be doing too many hair flips, by the photos.

Well, what do we think? Could 'Girl Meets World' live up to its predecessor, judging by the first trailer? See for yourself above, and give us your thoughts in the comments!
