Thank you SO Central NY! We are at a 100% adoption rate for pets we feature from the Rome Humane Society. Let's keep it going by finding Rolston a home. He is an adorable, 8 1/2 month old, neutered male, tan and white pit mix pup. He is active and outgoing and full of hugs and kisses for everyone he meets.
What’s in a name? Oh, about a couple hundred thousand dollars.
Madrid Zoo just welcomed a cute new arrival, a shy new Asian elephant calf. He is one of just 260 Asian elephants in Europe. For some reason he wanted nothing to do with the crowd who came out to see him.

This coming 'Adopt-a -Pet Wednesday' we will be featuring two cats looking for a home. If you're a cat person, most likely you've dressed your cat in a sweater. As you can see, we have. I stumbled upon a story on buzzfeed.com featuring 109 cats in sweaters ..too much? Why not enjoy one minute of my favorites...including Snickers.
We are constantly told about the rapid advances in science but every once in a while there's an announcement that makes you give pause.
Great news Willow was adopted quickly from the Rome Humane Society so today we have a new pet for you. Tatum is a very cute, 3 year old, neutered male, buff and white kitty. He is a very active and playful boy who loves to race around, snoop and will play with just about anyone. They expect him to be adopted quickly as well.
Hedgehogs are fairly irresistible, aren't they?
When you read the headline did you think, "I'll bet it was a pit bull." You'd be correct. Sadly, two-year-old Beau Rutledge was mauled and killed by the family's pit bull at home Thursday afternoon (April 25th), according to police. They added that the attack occurred around 1 p.m. when the toddler's mother stepped away to use the bathroom, leaving the child unattended with the family dogs. One can only imagine the horror she returned to.
