The signs were there late last week for the formation of the Atlantic's first tropical system of the 2013 Hurricane Season. Wendesday night, Tropical Storm Andrea formed.
The National Weather Service has released a pretty amazing fact about the tornado that struck near Oklahoma City on May 31. The storm has been declared the widest tornado ever known.
UPDATE Saturday 6:15 a.m. EST: The number of reported fatalities is at least five, with another 71 injuries caused by what authorities say are a total of 17 tornadoes ripping through the Midwest on Friday.

Two tropical disturbances could form into the first named storm of the 2013 Atlantic Hurricane Season during the first week of June. That storm, whether a tropical storm or hurricane would be named 'Andrea.'
A strong line of storms moved through Central New York this afternoon (May 29). The Syracuse area took a particularly hard hit from the storm including the city and village of East Syracuse. The storms then moved through Utica and New Hartford. We've got images of the aftermath in CNY.
Even though summer is still a few weeks away on the calendar, the Memorial Day holiday weekend is traditionally seen at the traditional start of the summer season. It's a time of year when 'camps up north' get opened up for the season. Maybe it's warm enough for a dip in a lake or pool. Not this 2013 Memorial Day Weekend in the High Peaks of the Adirondacks.
For the second day in a row, a line of strong thunderstorms have moved through Central New York. The storms brought hail to much of the Utica metropolitan area.
The country continues to pray for and help the people devastated by the massive tornado that touched down in Oklahoma on Monday, killing dozens.
