Additional Information

Local Herkimer, NY resident Candy Rowan is in need of a Heart Transplant. Currently a human heart transplant procedure costs over $1 Million, not including all other medical expenses which go with it. Candy has owned & operated Cangee’s Bar & Grille for several years. In early January, she was diagnosed with Viral Cardiomyopathy and has been hospitalized on multiple occasions. As complications kept occurring, she later found herself with Congestive Heart Failure. Due to the severe damage and deterioration of her heart, the doctors have decided a mechanical heart is no longer an option for Candy. Currently, she is hospitalized in Westchester, patiently awaiting a heart transplant. Sadly, there is no way of telling just how long she will be before a heart becomes available, nor do we know how long she will be away from her family and friends. We all understand the profound cost of not being able to work combined with the continued hospital stays and further tests and expenses she will endure. Our ultimate goal of the benefit is to raise funds to help offset the severe financial burden that has been placed on Candy.

Benefit for Candy Rowan
for her fight against
Viral Cardiomyopathy

March 29, 2016

On Sunday, May 22, 2016, our community will be coming together to assist a very special woman. A benefit for Candy Rowan from East Herkimer (who operates Cangee’s Bar & Grille) will be held at the East Herkimer Fish and Game Club, on Pine Grove Road, in East Herkimer, from 2:00 pm till 6:00pm. On behalf of the Benefit for Candy Rowan, we kindly ask that you consider making a donation to help ease the financial burden that Candy is experiencing.

In early January, Candy was diagnosed with Viral Cardiomyopathy. Since that time she has been hospitalized on multiple occasions in Cooperstown, Utica, Albany, and most recently the Westchester Medical Center, near New York City. As complications kept occurring, she later found herself with Congestive Heart Failure. Due to the severe damage and deterioration of her heart, the doctors have decided that a mechanical heart is no longer an option for Candy. Currently, she is hospitalized in Westchester where she is patiently awaiting a heart transplant. Sadly, there is no way of telling just how long she will be before a heart becomes available, nor do we know how long she will be away from her family and friends. We miss her dearly and pray every day for a donor heart. We all understand the profound cost of not being able to work combined with the continued hospital stays and further tests and expenses she will endure. Our ultimate goal of the benefit is to raise funds to help offset the severe financial burden that has been placed on Candy.

With this benefit, we are pulling together as a community to support Candy Rowan and her family during their difficult times. Please join us in the effort by completing the attached form and return it with your donation. Any donation made can be either monetary, a basket to be raffled at a Chinese auction, a gift certificate from your business to be auctioned, or donations of food, supplies, etc. for the benefit itself.

We can't thank you enough for taking a moment to consider donating to this worthy cause. Below we have listed a few of the benefit committee members that you can contact with any questions that you may have. We sincerely appreciate your help and donations.
