If you drive on Erie Blvd in Rome you will see the city's biggest national monument spelled wrong. A sign reads 'Fort Standwix' instead of 'Fort Stanwix'.

Tara Millson posted the picture to the "People and Places of Rome New York" Facebook group with the following caption:

I drive by this every day, and only today noticed that "Fort Standwix" is misspelled. Anyone here who knows how to get this fixed?"

It appears the problem is getting handled quickly.

Jake DiBari" The State has been notified. They also spelled Bellamy wrong last year and changed it quickly."

The sign is actually a State sign. The NYS DOT has been contacted and will replace soon enough.

Have you ever noticed this sign in Rome? I've probably drove past this a thousand times and never caught it.
