Haunted Rome Capitol Theatre Virtual Investigation ~ CNY Paranormal
Originally planned for a Thanksgiving opening in 1928, a Pennsylvania steel strike delayed construction and prevented the theater from opening until December. Completed, the theater was designed as the premiere movie house in Rome with seating for 2,500, a Möller theater organ in the orchestra pit and two projectors designed for ‘talking pictures.”
While legends of haunted activity permeated the Rome Capitol Theatre, it wasn't until 2009-2010 that local ghost hunting teams were permitted to investigate the theatre and document the activity. Since then, investigators have been able to document mysterious noises, ghostly voices an apparition and even a ghostly cat that roams the haunted theatre.
In October of 2010, the Shadow Chasers with Townsquare Media conducted the first ever 'Haunted History Investigation' series in CNY. A kick-off lecture at the Rome Capitol Theatre introduced the haunting history of our region before the first public investigation. Participants were able to capture ghostly voices and even anomalous photos.
Take a virtual walkthrough of the theatre from that night before joining the team on Oct 17th with Josh Gates and Joe Chin.
On October 17th we are hosting the 4th annual 'Haunted History' Event at the Rome Capitol Theatre based on the CNY Paranormal series. Meet Syfy Channel's Josh Gates of Destination Truth and Joe Chin of Ghost Hunters International as they tell their exploits and recount the history that could have created the ghosts before leading an investigation of the historic Haunted Capitol Theatre.
