Herb Philipson's isn't going anywhere. Just a few months after announcing the retailer was for sale, the 70-year-old business has found a buyer.

Gary Philipson - the current owner - announced that Guy Viti, the company's current president of merchandising and operations, will buy the iconic Central New York business. Viti brings a vision for the company's future and nearly 40 years of experience with Philipson's to the table.

In a statement, Mr. Viti said the "best is yet to come."

“My mother and I could not be happier than to see the sale of Herb Philipson’s to Guy Viti. Guy started working for my father thirty seven years ago and has worked with me for most of my career.  We know the company and its Three Hundred and Forty plus employees are in good hands with our friend and co-worker Guy Viti. I’m sure there will be many new and exciting developments for the company under the ownership of Mr. Viti," Gary Philipson said in a statement.

Herb Philipson's Army and Navy Stores started in Rome, NY in 1951.  They currently have stores in Rome, New Hartford, Oneida, Herkimer, Liverpool, Newark, Oswego, DeWitt and Watertown.
