In case you weren't aware, March first was "National Pig Day!" In the event you missed out on celebrating the swine, it's never too late to get your pig on.  My dad was a hog farmer and therefore I'm especially ashamed to admit that I didn't realize yesterday was "National Pig Day." I grew up on a pig farm in Schoharie County called "Hubbell's Hog Hollow." My dad raised goats, sheep, horses, chickens, emus, llamas, and cows, but pigs were his first and foremost priority. As a kid, I was fortunate to eat from the best of the land: fresh pork chops, ham, and yes of course..... Bacon!

Unfortunately, one day we had an electrical fire in the barn and many of our pigs bought the farm; please no pig roast jokes. They're truly is a positive side to the barn fire we suffered though:  First off, I truly believe pigs can fly so I know for a fact that our animals are happy in hog heaven.  We were also able to spare all of the meat so our freezer was full for months!

If you haven't given much thought as to how you can celebrate a belated National Pig Day, here are a few suggestions:

 

 Eat Bacon!
