Janet Jackson and N.W.A. are among the 2016 Rock Hall of Fame nominees, and their fellow hopefuls include Nine Inch Nails, Chaka Khan, the Smiths and Chic, the disco group co-founded by Nile Rodgers.

The artists who receive the most votes will be revealed in December, and the induction ceremony will occur at their annual ceremony in New York City. Fans will be able to watch the show, which features popular acts presenting awards to their musical forbears, later in 2016.

It's Jackson's first (richly deserved!) nomination, but Chic has been up for an induction no less than 10 times. Eleventh time's the charm? N.W.A.'s nomination also comes after a big year for the history-making rap group, following the success of F. Gary Gray's Straight Outta Compton biopic.
