Why in the world would I sell a pair of shoes to a complete stranger? Sometimes a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

Let me start by telling you that this story is not nearly as sentimental or touching as "The Christmas Shoes" by Newsong; but it's still kinda cool.

I was enjoying a night at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas when unbeknownst to me, a man walked up and asked if he could buy my shoes. At first I was like, "What?" "Huh?" After he explained to me the reason for his necessity, we haggled, and 5 minutes later, he was wearing my size 10.5, black, Dr. Martens shoes.

The guy who purchased my shoes explained to me that one of his best friends just got married at Chapel of Flowers. He was invited to the reception at Ghostbar Nightclub but was denied access because his footwear didn't meet the club's dress code standards. He was wearing these Black Nike's:

He offered to give me his sneakers and cash if I gave him my shoes in exchange. First he offered $20.00 and I said no way. I really liked my Doc martens and they were probably worth way more than his kicks. Then he offered $40.00 and I reluctantly accepted.

I should have asked him what size the Nike's were before I agreed to the deal because my feet were hurting after about two minutes. When I got back to my hotel room, achy feet and all, I slipped off the shoe and looked at the tag. They were an 8.5.  I grumbled a bit about my poor business decision but soon realized that I had just helped out a brother in need.

Hope you enjoyed those shoes friend. "What Happens in Vegas..."
