Giving the little yellow sidekicks from the Despicable Me films was inevitable, but at least Minions looks fun. The new, full trailer for the spinoff has arrived, taking you on a journey back through time to learn the origins of these weird little creatures and following them on their endeavor to find a new villain to serve.

Minions promises to be a delightful comedy of errors, as we watch the little guys serve a parade of villainous masters, who always wind up dead. T-Rex and Napoleon are just a couple of the bad guys the Minions have unsuccessfully protected throughout the centuries, and currently left leader-less, a couple of the Minions team up with fearless leader Kevin on his mission to find the perfect, evil new boss.

That evil boss is Scarlet Overkill, voiced by Sandra Bullock — a villain who resides in London in the ‘60s, which inspired the film’s rather cool soundtrack. (Although, as you can hear in the trailer, the soundtrack is not limited to this era.)

Few spinoffs are able to successfully expand upon or sustain the novelty of their characters, but Minions looks like it has the potential to surpass our expectations, however slightly.

Minions also features the voice talents of Michael Keaton, Jon Hamm, Steve Coogan and Allison Janney, and arrives in theaters on July 10.
