Recently, reddit user boo-yea blew up the Game of Thrones subreddit by imagining medieval style sigils for every state and territory (except poor, forgotten CNMI) in America.

Check out New York's sigil. It encompass not only the 'Empire State' nickname but also the state motto, Excelsior, which means ever upward.
