Will The Recent Alabama Pipeline Break Affect New York Gas Prices?
With the recent shutdown of a major Alabama pipeline this month, should we be worried about gas prices rising here in Upstate New York? Experts say don't freak out just yet.
According to Syracuse.com, New York's gasoline supply chain is diversified, and not only receiving gas from this pipeline. That means, the prices shouldn't skyrocket any time soon.
"New York harbor will be more than its fair share" of fuel from other suppliers, Kloza said this morning.
The break in Colonial Pipeline's Line 1 was discovered Sept. 9, AL.com reported. Since then, gas supplies have slowed and prices have increased in states as far north as Virginia. Mid-Atlantic states, including New Jersey, are also expected to see fluctuations.
Experts say here in Central New York, prices should remain steady. Actually, expect the prices to start dipping in October and November.
