I'm certainly not skilled at carving out a pumpkin. In fact, my Jack-o-Lanterns always end up looking like a toothless, orange mass of nothing; hopefully that changes this year Halloween!

I gave up pumpkin carving a couple of years ago. I learned that after 30 years of trying to create the perfect Jack-o-Lantern, I'm simply not coordinated enough to turn an ordinary pumpkin into a beautiful masterpiece. Give me my toasted pumpkin seeds, my delicious pumpkin pie, and my pumpkin cappuccino; just keep me away from the carving station.

Unfortunately, my sister inherited my dad's artistic talent. My father and sister, Kristen can turn just about anything into a Picasso. My next door neighbors are also extremely gifted when it comes to sculpting out the perfect looking Jack-o-Lantern. Last year, they had an army of pumpkins lining their porch and lighting up the neighborhood. I admit I was a little jealous when I saw their impressive display.

This year, I'm willing to give carving one last try. It’s been awhile since I butchered a pumpkin and I want to challenge myself to see if I can outdo my pathetic looking ones from the past. I have a feeling this instructional video will help me out, and hopefully will make your Jack-o-Lantern carving experience a little less frightening too.
