Ryan Gosling finally ate his cereal in tribute to the creator of a viral video spoofing the actor.

E! News reports that Ryan McHenry, the mastermind behind "Ryan Gosling Won't Eat His Cereal," died on May 3, following a two-year battle with osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer.

The video, which amassed more than 1 million views since April 2014, is a supercut of scenes from the Oscar-nominated actor's films. Each clip shows him frowning, dodging or otherwise avoiding a spoonful of cereal. Following the sad news of McHenry's passing, Gosling posted a Vine of himself preparing a bowl of cereal and toasting the camera with his spoon.

On May 4, the actor tweeted his condolences to McHenry's loved ones, writing, "My heart goes out to all of Ryan McHenry's family and friends. Feel very lucky to have been apart [sic] of his life in some small way."

E! News says that in addition to his hilarious video featuring Gosling, McHenry shared personal videos of himself and "cancer selfies" from his hospital bed. McHenry and Gosling reportedly tweeted back and forth, though they never spoke in person. However, that didn't stop the actor from giving McHenry's video the response he was hoping for.

"As a filmmaker, I like to have a conclusion to things," McHenry told the Verge. "The only conclusion I can see out of this whole thing is to have Ryan Gosling respond to this. Even if it’s just him eating cereal."
