It was national news - Buffalo, New York getting hit with that ridiculous snowstorm last winter that dropped seven feet of snow (and more) in some areas of the city. Even though it's summer, some of those snow piles are still visible.

Can you imagine? It's summertime and it's hot, but you can still see some leftover snow piles on the ground? Well, that's the case in Buffalo right now. Even with temperatures reaching into the high 80s today (and expected to be in the 90s tomorrow), there are still areas where all the snow hasn't melted from that record-breaking snowstorm last November.

Apparently there are still a few giant snow piles in Buffalo from last winter's storm. According to WGRZ,

"It's not unprecedented, but it is weird when you think about it," said Storm Team 2 Meteorologist Patrick Hammer, when remarking on the snow piles that still exists near Central Terminal on the Queen City's east side.

The snow was piled there following the "Snowvember" storm which occurred 8 months ago.

The snow piles are 10-feet high in some spots and covered in dirt (probably from being moved around). On top of the dirt - grass is growing! Underneath the dirt and grass though, is still snow. According to the report, the dirt and grass is actually insulating the snow, helping it from melting so fast.

I wonder if those 10-feet high snow piles will have time to melt before winter comes again... I would hate to live near those lots and see snow everyday, for an entire year!
