In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the Rosamond Gifford Zoo of Syracuse will host its annual Sweet Treats event.

This event is one in which animal care personnel will present heart-shaped and Valentine’s Day-themed enrichment items and treats to the animals of the zoo. These holiday treats serve as enrichment for the animals, stimulating their instincts while providing variety and intrigue to keep their bodies and minds healthy and engaged.

You don’t want to miss this heartwarming event — where else do you get the chance to see a Komodo Dragon receive her Valentine’s day present?

Everyone at the zoo loves receiving a Valentine’s – including the animals!” said Ted Fox, executive director of the zoo. “Sweet Treats gives our guests a greater understanding of animal enrichment, and the event always makes for an entertaining and educating day.”

Sweet Treats will take place from 10AM to 4PM on Sunday, February 11th. The Rosamond Gifford Zoo looks forward to sharing this celebration with the zoo community. This event is free for members and with paid zoo admission. Here's a look at the schedule of Valentine's and animals:
