Hollywood came to New York to make the latest Mel Gibson movie. Three natives, including one from Syracuse, are a part of 'Panama,' an action thriller loosely based on a true story of the Panama invasion of 1989.

Faith-based films have been riding a wildly successful wave for several years now, only recently stumbling a bit with the underwhelming box office returns for God’s Not Dead 2. And while that seemed to indicate that faithful audiences might not be too keen on sequels, Mel Gibson may very well prove that theory wrong as the actor and director is apparently plotting a sequel to The Passion of the Christ.

It may not have a number in its title, but Mad Max: Fury Road is the fourth film in a series stretching back to 1979. And while original star Mel Gibson has been replaced by Tom Hardy, director George Miller is present and accounted for, still wrecking cars in the post-apocalypse for your amusement. The newest trailer for the Fury Road, labeled the “legacy trailer,” uses footage from the past films build up to the newest entry to remind potential viewers this isn’t just another action franchise. This is Mad freaking Max.

First, the good news: Robert Downey, Jr. has agreed to star in 'Iron Man 4' for Marvel! Considering everything he has been saying over the past year or so - essentially that he can't imagine an 'Iron Man 4' ever happening - that's a major step in the right direction and a huge win for Marvel Studios. But...Downey's agreement has come with one rather large condition. That his old friend, and current member of the Hollywood blacklist, Mel Gibson be allowed to direct.

Mel Gibson is now a single man, albeit one with a much smaller bank account. His divorce from his wife of almost 30 years, Robyn, was finalized Friday. And because they didn’t have a pre-nup, she was entitled to half the fortune he built during their marriage, making her cut about $425 million — considered by many to be the biggest divorce settlement in Hollywood history.

Talk about going against type. Rumors are swilling that Mel Gibson may cast himself as Judah Maccabee in an upcoming epic based on the life of the Jewish military hero who led a revolt against the armies of Greek and Syria between 167–160 BC.
