October 24, 2011 As heard on your information update this morning, internet users will now be able to see the view from the Statue of Liberty's torch when five webcams on it will be turned on Friday (October 28th) during a ceremony to commemorate the statue's dedication 125 years ago. The webcams, which will be on 24 hours a day, seven days a week, will offer four views, including a 180-degree view of New York Harbor, of visitors on Liberty Island below, and of the torch itself and Lady Liberty's tablet.
April 18, 2011 The United States Postal Service just released a new stamp featuring the Statue of Liberty. The only problem is, the Lady Liberty featured in the photo isn’t the one that has spent the last 125 years in New York Harbor, rather it’s a 14-year-old replica which currently sits in front of the New York-New York casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In real life, the casino Statue of Liberty is only half the size of the original. However, it is almost impossible to tell the difference between the two in the photo on the stamp.
