This kid is paying the price for trying to go to the prom with a beauty queen instead of the homecoming queen.

Patrick Favres, a senior at Central York High School in York, Pennsylvania, has made national headlines (and even appeared on the 'Today' show) after he was suspended for asking Miss America Nina Davuluri to his prom while she spoke at a school assembly last week.

The school had heard rumblings Favres was planning on asking Davuluri and told him not to do so, but video captured him approaching her during the assembly, which you can see below.

Davuluri addressed the controversy on the official Miss America Facebook page:

I was flattered by the gesture although I am unfortunately unable to attend due to my travel schedule. I later learned of the disciplinary action taken and reached out to the school in hopes that they will reconsider their decision."

Favres, who received a three-day in-school suspension, is now dateless. So, what's his plan B? "I actually don't have one," Favres said. "I don't know if I want to ask someone or if with all the attention if a girl will ask me."
